Governors

“For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.”

Luke 22:27

Zoë Roberts

Chair, Yoxall Local Governing Body

Zoe has been a parent governor since December 2015 and works in the community safety and licensing department at Lichfield District Council, having previously worked in regeneration funding, managing and distributing European funds – and before that assessing applications for one of the National Lottery Good Causes.

Zoe has two children currently at St Peter’s and attended St Peter’s herself. Zoe says she wanted to become a parent governor to “give something back and help to keep raising standards at our fantastic school.”

Norman Taylor

Community Governor

Norman joined the governing body fourteen years ago when approached by an existing governor who was looking to add diverse experience to the governing team. Having worked for forty years in industry he felt certain his experience could benefit St Peter’s School and its pupils.

Norman holds a Masters Degree in manufacturing systems and many years’ experience as a project and manufacturing manager across a wide range of industries, overseeing many projects which were supported with EU funds.

Pete Garner

Pete graduated from Cambridge University after many hard sums having specialised in Statistics and Structures.

Sold his Edutainment Tour Company, which is still active, to have a more synchronised family life by teaching Maths for Keystages 3 to 5, after obtaining the requisite PGCE.

As a head of Maths, including Further Maths my specialities included:-

Remedial GSCE Maths
Oxbridge STEM entrance preparation
Coaching winning UK Maths Challenge teams
Whole school competitions
Evaluation and concept creation of Teaching Software

My wife and I moved to Yoxall upon my retirement to live nearby to our married son.

As a member of St Peters Church, I assist with the Open the Book program.

I was inspired to become a Governor by the encouragement I received in my own teaching career.

Jackie Warner

Staff Governor

Jackie has worked at St Peter’s since 1999 and gained an Honours Degree in Educational Studies in 2006. Jackie has a passion for phonics and reading, saying “I believe reading is fundamental to enable children to access the whole curriculum.”

Jackie has lived in Yoxall for 22 years and her three children all attended the school.

In 2020, Jackie gained the qualification of Higher Level Teaching Assistant.

Elizabeth Binsley

Foundation Governor

Elizabeth is a member of St. Peter’s church and Foundation Governor at St. Peter’s school. She is married to Michael and has three children, now adult, and six grandchildren.

Elizabeth has lived in Yoxall for 53 years, all three of her children attended St. Peter’s school, since which she has maintained a close attachment to the school with a particular interest in Special Educational Needs. She goes into the school weekly to hear children read and is part of the team taking ‘Open the Book’ Bible stories into school assemblies.

Elizabeth says “I very much value my contact with younger parents and hope that my experiences over the years may bring a different perspective to the Governing Body.”

Mark Drury

Parent Governor

Mark is in his eighth year as a senior leader across two different schools (secondary). He has widespread experience, including developing teaching and learning, pupil wellbeing (being a former Designated Safeguarding Lead), statutory frameworks and personnel management. He is SENCO at his current school.

Mark says “My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her time at Yoxall St Peters thus far. This has been due to the hard work of the staff and the caring, welcoming ethos they have established. I believe that this would be an opportunity to repay the school by giving of my time and experience.”

“Furthermore, as a small village school, Yoxall St Peters is dependent to a large extent on the support of volunteers and the community of which it is a part. I believe it is incumbent on parents to support the school according to their capacity and ability.”

Chris Gaffiney

Parent Governor

I am passionate about education and helping every child to realise their limitless possibilities! I have worked in education for 15 years in a range of roles, including 9 years as a Headteacher across two schools. I’ve also been a Chair of Governors, worked as a school improvement consultant, facilitate the National Professional Qualification for Headship and work as an executive coach. I aspire to bring experience, passion and a restless determination for growth in my role as a governor to the benefit of every child in our community.
